Parents, thank you for registering your children for Vacation Bible School! We’re so excited about this year’s program, and we pray it’s a blessing to your family.

We’ll begin each day of VBS (August 9-13) at 6:30 PM with a live Zoom call with our VBS emcee, Captain Crisp (also known as Russell Brown). We’ll give kids a few minutes to chat with one another, and then Captain Crisp will kick things off. We’re planning to make this time interactive, too!

  • To access the Zoom call and the material for each day, visit this page (https://bbcde.org/mysteryisland), click the correct day of the VBS material (it will go live daily at 6 PM with that day’s material), and choose “Islander Assembly.” That will open up a prompt to join the Zoom call. If you’re asked to input additional information, the Meeting ID each day is 930 3944 5258, and the passcode is cptncrisp.
  • For any children who can’t participate in the Zoom call, we’ll have a recorded kickoff available for them to watch anytime the following day (this will NOT be a recording of the Zoom call; it will be a standalone video). To access this, click the day your children missed and choose “Islander Assembly.”

After the Zoom call, kids will access the materials for each day at this page (https://bbcde.org/mysteryisland). We’ll update the page each day at 6 PM with the materials for the day. Here, they’ll find the lessons (taught by Mr. Alligator, a.k.a. Rob Alekel), craft information, songs, and the daily drama. Please keep in mind that this will work on a smartphone or tablet, but for best results, you may want to use a desktop or laptop if you have one.

To view the Bible passages, memory verses, crafts, and main points for each day, be sure to download the VBS Overview.

  • Bethel Kids Story Time – Earlier during the pandemic, we posted several videos of various Bethel Kids volunteers reading books from a series called Tales that Tell the Truth published by The Good Book Company. They’re geared toward younger kids, they’re anywhere from around 5 to 9 1/2 minutes long, and they’re all on our YouTube channel.
  • Tough Questions – A time of crisis, like a pandemic, can cause big, ultimate questions to bubble to the surface. Recognizing that, Pastor Chris McGarvey—who’s the Lead Pastor here at Bethel—led a 6-week live stream series called “Tough Questions.” Each session lasted for about 30 minutes, and Pastor Chris addressed questions like: Why does God allow so much suffering? Isn’t it intolerant to say there is only one way to heaven? Can you really take the Bible literally (or seriously!)? Hasn’t science discredited Christianity? How can a loving God send people to hell?
